Make Waves for Clean Lakes!

Join the Digital Waves for Clean Lakes challenge at DigiEduHack 2025

Do you care about the environment? Are you passionate about digital learning and creativity? Then this is your chance to make a difference!

We invite you to take part in the Digital Waves for Clean Lakes challenge, a unique online hackathon where ideas meet action to protect Europe’s freshwater treasures.

The Challenge

Your mission: Design a visual mock-up of a digital tool (web or app) that educates and inspires people to protect and restore freshwater lakes.

Don’t worry—no coding is required! We’re looking for innovative concepts that show how digital solutions can make scientific knowledge engaging, accessible, and fun.

Think of tools with:

  • Gamified missions to spark action
  • Biodiversity storytelling to show what’s at stake
  • Interactive quizzes to test awareness
  • Community challenges to inspire collective impact

Why Lakes?

Lakes are among Europe’s most valuable ecosystems:

  • They provide biodiversity, freshwater, recreation, and climate regulation.
  • Yet they are increasingly threatened by pollution, climate change, and unsustainable use.

Protecting them requires more than science and policy—it needs citizen awareness and digital literacy. This challenge is part of the ProCleanLakes project, which supports innovative approaches to lake protection through community engagement and digital tools.
