The ProCleanLakes project is pleased to invite stakeholders and other interested participants to the Langvatnet Lake Stakeholders Workshop: Implementation and Monitoring of Nature-Based Solutions, taking place on 4-5 September 2026 in Sulitjelma, Norway.

The workshop will bring together researchers, local stakeholders and other interested participants to share the latest activities and preliminary results from the ProCleanLakes demonstration site at Langvatnet Lake.

The first day will take place at Sulitjelma Besøksgruven/Grunnstollen and will introduce participants to the geological setting and mineral resources of the Sulitjelma area. The program will then focus on recent research at Langvatnet, including chemical analyses of fish bones and soft tissues to investigate long- and short-term responses, as well as preliminary results from water-quality monitoring following the implementation of Nature-Based Solutions (NbS).

The program will conclude with an informal BBQ outside Besøksgruven, providing an opportunity for further discussion and exchange between participants.

On the second day, participants will have a unique opportunity to visit the ProCleanLakes demonstration site at the historical Avilon mine, north of the Arctic Circle. The implemented Nature-Based Solutions will be demonstrated directly in the field, followed by a discussion of the preliminary results, practical experience, challenges and further monitoring.

The workshop provides an opportunity not only to learn about the latest ProCleanLakes activities at Langvatnet, but also to exchange knowledge and discuss the future of lake restoration and pollution mitigation together with researchers and local stakeholders.
